Basic idea: What if the Turks were never welcomed back at Shinra? What if the hunting of the Turks just got worse to the point where they just break off entirely? All of them. And are never welcomed back?

1. Backstories
   
   
   
   • As long as I'm at it, might as well include some backstories. It's an AU.
   
   
   • Backstory for Squall
   
   
   • Backstory for Rufus and parents.
   
   
   • Recruitment: Reno
   
   
   • Backstory with Veld and the Turks where they're in training. A sweet story of where the "Veld is our pops" thing came from.
   
   
   • I REALLY WANT A BACKSTORY where Hojo is a bright young scientist who is SO ENTHUSIASTIC but then gets taken over by Jenova. Yep.
   
   
   
   




2. Trouble at Nibelheim
   
   
   
   • The Turks protested Nibelheim, but their insubordination forces Veld to take it into his own hands.
     
     Reference: Gunshot Romance: Episode 12 - Nibelheim
   
   
   • Possibly something goes differently in the scene at Nibelheim. The Turks are very unhappy with what they were ordered to do with the survivors of the massacre. The protesting can be taken a little bit further in a prelogue scene
   
   
   • One or two of the turks actually protest this to the President- gets in a lot of trouble, but everything is OK because they're just assigned disciplinary action.
   
   
   • A few of the Turks talk about the incident afterward. "Do we really want to go that far?"
   
   
   
   




3. Turks on the Run
   
   
   
   • Veld defecting:
     
     • This is the point where the AU really starts breaking off from canon.
     
     
   
   
   • Turks "betray" Shinra by having contact with Veld.
   
   
   • Shinra orders the Turks captured.
     
     
     
     • This is the point where the Turks "defect." But without their holding Rufus it would turn out that Shinra is far more aggressive in trying to capture/kill them.
     
     
     • President Shinra
       From now on, you will be in charge of the Turks. Don't forget: The Turks are entrusted with this company's top classified information. The only kind of retirement a Turk is entitled to comes with a body bag. Therefore I am giving the Turks new orders. Find Veld! And when you do, kill him!!
     
     
     
     
   
   
   • Rufus is captured in the Encounter with Fuhito*.
     
     
     
     • Point where Veld leaves the Turks and Rufus tries to get AVALANCHE to kill the Turks.
     
     
     • Fuhito captures Rufus, but makes it appear as if he died in the attempt
     
     
     • Maybe he dies in the attack from Fuhito because the Turks somehow failed to protect him, and that just sets Shinra against them even more.
     
     
     • Alternatively, he is injured and captured by AVALANCHE and made it seem as if he is dead.
     
     
     • AVALANCHE takes Rufus and hides him away in their Wutai HQ.
     
     
     
     
   
   
   • Shinra discovers the failure of the Turks to protect Rufus despite that Rufus was plotting with AVALANCHE (check scripts on this. It indicates P. Shinra still kind of cared for his offspring and was willing to forgive Rufus's indiscretions.)
   
   
   
   




4. Dealing with Elfe
   
   
   
   • Turks search for Veld, avoid Shinra.
   
   
   • They get three pieces of the support materia.
   
   
   • Shinra orders the Turks killed.
   
   
   • Scarlet attacks their base, kills one Turk and destroys a support materia.
   
   
   • During the Showdown in Ep24.
     
     
     
     • There's no person advocating for them, like Rufus did, so they are not offered the chance to "kill" Veld and return.
     
     
     • And so they're like, fuck this shit, because Shinra actually manages to kill one of them.
     
     
     
     
   
   
   
   




5. Shinra replaces the Turks
   
   
   
   • Anyway, Shinra somehow comes up with REPLACEMENT Turks from the Academy
   
   
   • Only now they're called something else, because as far as Shinra is concerned "Turks" = Stigma.
   
   
   • Want to fill in the new order turks with already existing characters.
   
   
   • Another note: with the Turks missing Elena would be graduating/promoted into the new order and would be on the opposite side of Gun. She gets promoted to the Turks, but not because Reno's injured but because they all freaking disappear on Shinra.
   
   
   • Elena, Yuna, Rikku, Paine, Celes, Terra, Locke, Edgar, Sabin, Auron (younger version), Tidus, Zell, Kain, et ctra are options.
   
   
   • If Nomura can do this, so can I.
   
   
   
   




6. Turks Betrayed and Loyalty
   
   
   
   • The New Turks and the Rogue Turks face off in EPIC BATTLE.
     
     
     
     • So they have kind of an epic battle... with most of the original Turks surviving unscathed (because they're that damned awesome) but the recruits kind of taking more of a hit, so they're all angry and such.
     
     
     
     
   
   
   • Rogue Turks relocate to Mideel
     
     
     
     • Reason why the Turks can't move to Wutai:
       AVALACNHE was based in Wutai and the defenses are strong there. They would still view the Turks as enemies. While the tactical idea of hiding in a place where a mutual enemy is located is a sound one, it would be too easy for AVALANCHE to find them, and in their weakened state annihilate them. Worrying about Shinra doing that is enough. Though it was destroyed at the end of that episode there would probably be enough presence there to worry.
       Think of a better more thought out reason later.
     
     
     • But after the fight- they flee Midgar permanently and set up in a base... somewhere, I think somewhere they wouldn't be found, a place that has access to stuff but is also kind of out of the way. Mideel /shot. Nobody would ever think to look for them in Mideel...
     
     
     • In Mideel Shotgun could take them to a Private Family Cabin where she used to hunt all the time.
     
     
     
     
   
   
   • After heartbreak and discussion they decide to defect from Shinra forever.
   
   
   • Veld and Shears? Not sure how to handle this yet.
   
   
   • They keep after Fuhito who intends on summoning Zirconiade.
   
   
   
   




7. Zirconiade
   
   
   
   • Fuhito gets the support materia, and starts to summon Zironiade
   
   
   • The summon is not only incomplete but also corrupt. It absorbs too much life energy from Elfe.
   
   
   • Elfe dies(?).
   
   
   • The Turks confront Zirconiade and defeat it as in BC, and the platform it had developed disappears.
   
   
   • Whoever confronts Zirconiade may be different depending on how it plays out. It may be that they all attack it instead of dealing with Elfe and Veld and the Shinra Army at the same time.
   
   
   • This would be the point where, but the Turks are not given the chance to return to Shinra by killing Veld.
   
   
   
   




8. Retrieving Zack
   
   
   
   • Cissnei does her thang. The Turks are called out on a Priority S Retrieval Mission (somehow).
   
   
   • Later on because they don't have Shinra distracting them the Turks notice that the army has zero'd in on them.
   
   
   • EPIC FIGHT against the army THEREBY SAAAAVIIIING ZAAAACK. And Cloud.
   
   
   • But because Cloud doesn't crawl into Midgar and find Tifa he's still in his wuuuhhhhhh state, so they take him back to Mideel where he lays in a coma.
   
   
   • It also prevents Cloud from waking up because he won't meet Tifa.
   
   
   • "And Zack is being chased by the army. AND, the turks via cissnei pick up his trail and follows so when the army does their thang. The turks come in and rescue him. So he doesn't die. So he'd be in their secret base being cared for. And now they have Zack on their side. And Cloud, if he wakes up. I haven't decided yet how Cloud wakes up, or who he would be when he does."
   
   
   
   




9. After that's all done the Turks have to sit back and examine their new roles. Decide what to do.
   
   
   
   • "We are Turks. We will always be Turks. Even without Shinra, we have that, and we have to do the best we can with it now. We have the chance to redeem ourselves."
   
   
   • "We were Shinra's enforcers and secret-keepers. We started out as just simple bodyguards, but we've become so much more to them. That makes us dangerous. What we can do, and what we know. They will stop at nothing to kill us now. We're no longer their bloodhounds and guard dogs. We have to decide on a new purpose for ourselves, and what it means to us."
     
   • ...and so the Turks become a champion for justice. And protecting the planet. Behind the scenes.
   
   
   • POSSIBILITY: But they do go to Godo for help, but he's like "ROAR YOU'RE SHINRA /BANG!" but they're like "No we quit shinra." and so he's like "Wuh?" because. you know, if a turk quits he's basically dead.
   
   
   
   




10. FUN STUFF AKA SCREWERY WITH FFVII!!
    
    
    
    • A couple of points: I really like the Rude/Chelsea mission. I really want to keep it and somehow have Rude meet Chelsea again
    
    
    • ELENA: Potential luring her to the other side dramas get.OR some sort of conflict/sister drama. And because Elena has a -10 roll to her kidnapping save, they could kidnap her
    
    
    • AND SO, starts the beginning of FF7. With most of the Turks working undercover around the world, Reno, Rude and Tseng have Midgar
    
    
    • Veld is at Mideel.
    
    
    • And Zack... he'd be trying to find something to help Cloud. And he thinks "Didn't Cloud know that girl in Nibelheim? Tifa?" So he could go look for her. Because he remembers he didn't see her in the Basement. So he tells all the Turks to keep an eye out for her.
    
    
    • The three OGC turks find her in Midgar- when Barret tries to hire them.
    
    
    • Tifa was just kind of there for convenient memory snatching so possibility exists for Cloud to wake up a different, more stable/stronger person. Even so he was starting to wake up a little anyway before Zack died so may have a brief periods of consciousness.
    
    
    
    




11. There's a New AVALANCHE?!
    
    
    
    • When undercover Rude, Reno and Tseng get hired by Barret as mercenaries...
    
    
    • they go to rig the bomb, and the first one works.
    
    
    • Because they have to get Barret to trust them, since they're infiltrating AVALANCHE hu hu hu.
    
    
    • But they fix the second one so it doesn't go off, but... they run into the President on the way out. AND HAVE AN EPIC SCENE.
    
    
    • Where Barret finds out they're Turks and has a SHIT FIT.
    
    
    
    




12. Aerith is finally kidnapped
    
    
    
    • Because Tseng isn't there to stop it, the new Turks get their hands on Aerith
    
    
    • This isn't noticed until Zack goes to Midgar to find her and get her out of Midgar.
    
    
    • They have to go undercover in the Slums to find out what happened to her.
    
    
    • Along the way Don Corneo's outfit is infiltrated and the part about Sector 7 slips out.
    
    
    • EPIC HILARIOUSNESS OF CONFRONTING HIM.
    
    
    
    




13. The Plate/Sector 7
    
    
    
    • Instead of Tseng and Reno at the Pillar, it's Squall and Elena.
    
    
    • Sector 7 still gets dropped though, since AVALANCHE is still active, but... instead of Reno it could be Elena pushing the button. I figure they'd find out from Corneo ! that the plate's in danger so they follow AVALANCHE to stop it and kind of team up despite Barret.
    
    
    • Then they make their escape- including Biggs, Wedge, and Jessie- but something went wrong with the explosive and only half of the plate fell, so it's kind of half hanging there.
    
    
    
    
    
    
14. Regrouping
    
    
    
    • So, now the plate's been dropped, Aerith's been kidnapped (but AVALANCHE doesn't know her yet) but at least the Turks know where she is by now.
    
    
    • -at some point the turks realize this isn't the same AVALANCHE, and despite the bombs they aren't all that threatening
    
    
    • AVALANCHE has no place to go, the turks are thinking of going back to Mideel.
    
    
    • When they go back to Mideel, they decide to focus on what Hojo was doing at Nibelheim that Zack escaped from and caused Cloud's problem, since they all had moral issues with what Hojo was doing
    
    
    • So they with Zack decide to infiltrate the Shinra Tower and kidnap Hojo/find something that should help Cloud
    
    
    • At this point they can Split Up into Multiple Groups and tackle the next few things at the same time.
    
    
    
    




15. Infiltrating
    
    
    
    • Group #1!
    
    
    • Being that they're Turks it's easier for them to infiltrate undetected and move about the tower.
    
    
    • They steal documents on Nibelheim
    
    
    • and rescue Aerith... and they find Aerith! And Zack is all "OMG' and Aerith is all "OMG. YOU JERK. YOU NEVER CALLED". So they get her out of there.
    
    
    • Since Cloud isn't anywhere near the Tower Jenova doesn't wake up at this point.
    
    
    • So... President Shinra doesn't die. Just YET.
    
    
    • Since the Turks know the building they get in and out without quite as much trouble as AVALANCHE originally had.
    
    
    
    




16. Nibelheim Revisited
    
    
    
    • Group #2!
    
    
    • Arriving in Nibelheim (some time after setting out as despite the official timeline likes to indicate TRAVELING ACROSS THE WORLD ISN'T FREAKING INSTANTANEOUS.
    
    
    • Of course the Turks are aware of the cover-up, having been there in the first place.
    
    
    • This would be especially difficult if Tifa is included in the people going.
    
    
    • Word may not have spread here that the Turks are no longer with Shinra, so they might be able to get away with a lot of stuff here.
    
    
    • THEY CONFISCATE ALL OF THE DAMNED NIBELHEIM CRAP. Like all of the Shinra stuff left here! HELICOPTERS!
    
    
    • And wake up Vincent.
    
    
    
    




17. Jade WEAPON
    
    
    
    • Group #3!
    
    
    • Because of the destruction of Zirconiade by the Turks that defeated it, Planet revives Jade WEAPON to go after the Turks.
    
    
    • This is supposedly what happens at the end of BC and why they don't show up again until the end of FF7.
    
    
    • I figure we should keep this part in for some more fun and plotty stuff.
